Preparing for Restoration

Paignton Monastery CIC has been established to secure the long-term future of this historic building for community benefit.

Important preparatory work is already underway. We are developing restoration plans, engaging with stakeholders, and seeking funding to ensure the project begins responsibly and sustainably once access is granted.

Our current focus is to build the foundations that will make restoration possible.

A Community-Led Vision

The future of Paignton Monastery is being shaped by the community it serves.

Our vision is to transform the building into a welcoming shared space supporting:

  • Community events and gatherings

  • Educational and heritage activities

  • Arts and cultural projects

  • Wellbeing and social connection

Community consultation and partnership working will guide how the building evolves, ensuring it meets real local needs.

Building a Sustainable Future

This project is about more than restoration; it is about creating a sustainable future for an important local landmark.

Before work can begin, we must:

  • Complete surveys and condition assessments

  • Develop phased restoration plans

  • Secure grant funding and investment

  • Establish long-term operating sustainability

Every step is being carefully planned to protect the building while ensuring it can serve the community for generations to come.
