Saving Paignton Monastery for Future Generations

A community-led project restoring one of Paignton’s most historic buildings.

Statue of Our Lady Mary and Jesus

Our Story

Paignton Monastery has stood as a landmark in Paignton for generations. Its distinctive architecture and historic presence make it one of Paignton’s most important heritage buildings.

However, like many historic structures, it now faces significant challenges. Without intervention, deterioration will continue, and the opportunity to preserve this building for future generations could be lost.

Paignton Monastery CIC was formed to change that.

Our aim is to:

  • Safeguard the building from further decline

  • Restore key architectural features

  • Create space for heritage, education, arts and community use

  • Develop a long-term, sustainable future for the site

This is about more than bricks and mortar, it’s about preserving identity, memory and opportunity for the town.
